Okay, here's the situation:
I just updated my Windows 7 desktop computer at home with a new motherboard (ASRock Extreme 4 Gen 3)' 8 gigs of G-skills memory, Intel Core 5 CPU, and the Cooler Master Hyper 212. for my purposes, my desktop rocks, and I'm really not a big Windows fan.
My problem comes while trying to perfect my backup strategy. Not long ago I purchased a Drobo-FS mostly as a backup for my music collection and photos, but also to keep an image of my c: drive. Norton Ghost was my software solution (or so I thought). The backups have been going well. No real hiccups.
To be safe, I thought I might want to test my backup system by attempting a mock restore, in case of the inevitable, the main drive crashes. Good idea! I had created the Symantec Recovery Disk months ago. Silly me -- I thought I was protected -- but no!!
I successfully boot up using the recovery disk, but there doesn't seem to be a way to connect to the Drobo, although there is an option for network services which doesn't show the Drobo as an option. Nor does it permit me to ping the Drobo. Hmm. While Norton Ghost does a great job of backing up my data, it doesn't help much if it won't let me restore that data in the case of a hardware catastrophe.
If anyone knows how I can use Norton Ghost to restore files o. A Drobo-FS, leave me a message.
In the meantime, I've downloaded Acronis' True image 2012 trial version, ran a backup to the Drobo, created the boot disk and put it through the paces of restoring from the Drobo. It works, and really, what more can you ask for.

Update: Since the original post I have had no luck finding the solution to the problem. I have since installed and now testing Acronis True Image 2012, and EaseUS Todo Backup. I've created the Acronis Recovery Disk, booted up the computer, and was indeed able to access the Drobo-FS to restore files. I'll continue to put Acronis through its paces before the 30-day trial expires, but it looks like I'm no longer a Norton Ghost person, but a Acronis convert.
