Barack Obama's grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, died late Sunday, one day before her grandson is heavily favored to be elected president of the United States. The family statement said that Dunham died peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with cancer.
Obama was informed of her death early Monday morning while campaigning in Jacksonville, Florida.
