Sen. Jim DeMint (S.C.) on Tuesday joined GOP presidential nominee John McCain in calling for the ouster of Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), now a convicted felon.
DeMint is one of the staunchest opponents of the pork-barrel projects that Stevens has funneled to Alaska over his four decades of Senate service. His comments add to the growing pressure facing Stevens, who was convicted Monday of seven felony charges of making false statements.
